Vehicles of the Apocalypse

After the Apocalypse Humanity still clung to the last vestiges of convenience. Despite their long strides to "save the environment" those ideas were no longer applicable. Each nuclear explosion carried with it an EMP that nullified more advanced vehicles. Survivors turned to simple vehicles, and feeding those vehicles required petrol. This resulted in yet another war; that for the control of fossil fuels and its continued production.

There are no companies who produce petrol today in exchange for money. There are only warlords. From one day to the next one cannot be sure which warlord will control the petrol you need. But one thing is certain: if you are going to operate a vehicle you will have to fight for it everyday. And you will need petrol.

Assault Vehicles

Primarily used by humans they are generally mounted with ballistic weapons and most are armoured. To disable a vehicle it must reach 0 VP (vehicle points).

Description of types: a small two-wheeled vehicle is a motorcycle and a small 4-wheel is an ATV. A medium sized 4-wheel vehicle is an average sized car and a large 4-wheel is a truck. 18-wheelers are commercial trucks with their trailer or tank attached, and a large tank is a military vehicle designed for battlefield use. There may be other types you wish to operate and the GM can make condescension for at their discretion.

At the time of your character's creation you may roll for which type of vehicle you will operate. You will then need to keep track of its scores: Ballistics, Vehicle Points, Vehicle Speed, and Petrol Points. You are given one full tank of petrol (gas, equal to your vehicle's PP) and two large gas cans (filled, equal to 10 PP each). Keep track of everything. Collect petrol and supplies wherever you can. You may also choose not to own a vehicle but it may make traveling difficult.

Operating Your Vehicle

There are no specific rules for simple driving, but when being pursued, racing, or vehicle-to-vehicle battle follow this Table.

Vehicle-to-Vehicle Battle: standard Attack Roll. Winning the roll the Injury you cause is per your vehicle's Ballistics score.

Driving Challenges: roll under your own Agility score.

Outrunning or Racing: this is where your vehicle's speed matters. You will roll a d20 against the GM and add your vehicle's SP (speed points) Bonus.

Petrol Points: how far you can go on a tank of gas is very important. The GM will tell you how far you have traveled or how far a journey is. At the end of your journey you will reduce your vehicle's Petrol Points per this Table.

km                     PP Reduced

5-10                    1

11-15                  2

46-50                  9

51-55                 10

Continue to reduce 1 PP per every 5 km of travel.

Increasing Your Vehicle's Performance

You will want to upgrade your vehicle's performance at every opportunity. Outrunning or outfighting a band of hostile highwaymen is always a good idea. To do this you must first salvage parts from other vehicles. Ex: mounting a door panel to one of your vehicle's doors (or anywhere!) increases your VP. You will find parts (and Petrol) at random. You will then tell the GM you are going to make an Upgrade Roll. This Table also provides random PP.

Other Vehicles

There are other types of vehicles in the world but they are few and far between. To obtain one PCCs will need to encounter them under special circumstances in-game.

Vehicle Ballistics to PCC Conversion

The ballistics of vehicles is of a completely different design than weapons intended for use by people. If your character was to fire a rifle at a vehicle it will do damage, yes. But the Injury a vehicle’s weapons can do to your character is significantly massive and devastating. In battle you may find yourself taking heavy fire from a vehicle. This is a dangerous and very life-threatening situation.

For every point of Injury caused by a vehicle’s ballistics to a PCC multiply by 10. Thus 10 points of Injury is 100.

Similarly, the reverse is true. The weapon of a PCC fired at a vehicle is reduced greatly.

For every point of Injury caused by a PCC’s weapon to a vehicle, subtract 10.

There are weapons PCCs can obtain that will allow them to cause much greater damage, but they must be acquired in-game and at the GM’s discretion.

GAS MILEAGE

For every 5 km of travel you will spend 1 Petrol Point up to 50 km. Or 10 PP per 50 km after which the mileage becomes more fuel efficient. See below.
